Andrea has brought Moving Torah workshops and Moving Your Students workshops (a more general way to think about using movement in Jewish and General Studies classrooms) to many BJE events. She has also worked directly with specific school faculties.
As Scholar in Residence at Pressman Academy/Temple Beth Am in Los Angeles, she and two Moving Torah company members, Saria Idana and Jonathan Bubis, engaged 100 members of the ECC, Elementary and Middle School faculties in a Moving Torah workshop. Following the workshop, they ran breakout groups for each faculty separately to help teachers think through ways they already use movement in their classroom, and to help them generate new ways to include movement and theater as part of their teaching repertoire:
I want to thank you for serving as our Colker Klein/Shapiro Scholar in Residence this year. We enjoyed working together with you, and your presentations were all well-received by the different groups. In particular, I wanted to thank you for the workshop you did with the faculty. There was a lot of positive feedback and interestingly, although some teachers found it more comfortable to participate in than did others, they all expressed how much this would enhance the work they do in class.
