The methodologies of Moving Torah Workshops and Moving Your Story Workshops as well as Moving Tefila (Moving Prayer) can be equally engaging and inspiring in interfaith settings, applied to any type of sacred text. Andrea has many short performance pieces on the Hebrew Bible which may offer a unique and creative perspective in non-Jewish settings.
To explore the possibility of bringing Moving Sacred Text program to your institution, please contact us. We look forward to creating meaningful and engaging experiences with you!
For a number of years, Andrea has been searching for a Muslim partner with a sister piece to Cutting My Hair in Jerusalem. We are so pleased to announce a partnership between Andrea and Ayesha S. Chaudhry, Asst. Prof. of Islamic Studies and Gender Studies at the University of British Columbia, who is developing a piece about her own experience with covering in the Muslim tradition entitled Cover Stories. Ayesha will come to LA in the summer of 2012 for some preliminary work, with an eye toward a full summer residency in 2013 which will allow us to fully the develop the work and begin performances. Our goal is to create an evening of performance and intercultural discussion about balancing tradition and modernity geared toward Jews, Muslims and others. Our intentions for the project are to perform in a variety of locations throughout 2013-2015 and create a film with discussion guides to make the work and the conversations available nationally. Please stay tuned for opportunities to participate in, and fund, this important work.
